A group of young Bees have scooped a prestigious award in their first compeititve season.

The Beeston FC U8 Girls' team have been presented with the Nottinghamshire Girls' and Ladies' League Development Award for the 2023/24 season.

The proud youngsters received the honour on Saturday and it comes in the first season they have played matches against other clubs.

'They are an incredible group of players who in their first season playing matches learned new skills, playing as a team and had fun!' said coach Gabrielle Mitchell.

The U8s are one of five girls' teams at Beeston FC and two mixed gender teams. In all the club has 17 youth teams, two adult men's teams and two veteran men's teams.

Beeston FC chairman Steve Hyde said: 'This is a fantastic achievement. We are so proud of the girls. They have been brilliant. The most important thing is they are having fun.'
