The return to Hetley Pearson Recreation Ground brought a super performance from Beeston Orange u10s.
The boys were back to winning ways, but more importantly they played some excellent football against a strong Long Eaton side.
Led by man-of-the-match midfielder, Luke, Orange were resolute in defence and swept forward, putting together impressive passing moves.
The lads have had some challenging games in recent weeks against tough-tackling opponents. They have at times found it hard to impose their own will and style on the opposition.
However, they took control of this encounter with Long Eaton courtesy of an early goal and never looked back.
Hard work in training looked like it was beginning to pay off with TJ, Ibrahim and Zak giving the team width and a ready outlet whenever Orange won the ball back.
The long passing practice came into play, too, as Orange looked to move the ball from back to front and side to side.
To the delight of coach Glen, crosses were flying in left, right and centre, and if thet were not enough the wide players on the opposite flank attacked the back post, while centre-forwards Will and Ollie occupied the centre of the box whenever they could to pose an attacking threat. On another day they could have had more goals.
Such was the level of performance that coach Glen has moved to distance himself from the managerial vacancies at Everton and West Ham United following the game.
Meanwhile the midfield and the backline of Kyle, Daniel and William put into operation the ‘defend for your lives’ approach, which has been much in evidence during the Thursday evening practice.
A really good effort by the boys, which coach and parents enjoyed watching!
