This the Beeston Festival: Questions & Answers
What is the Beeston Festival?
The Beeston Festival is a family music event featuring tribute acts across five decades. There will be a stage, family entertainment, bars and food stalls. We think it is the first time Beeston has hosted an event quite like this and we hope it will be great for the town.
Who will be playing?
As well as licensed bars, draft beers, cocktails, street food and live music, there will be entertainment for youngsters, including face-painting and bouncy castles. Come and enjoy the sounds of Queen, Oasis, Amy Winehouse, The Killers, Rihanna, Little Mix, Coldplay, Arctic Monkeys, Taylor Swift and Harry Styles.
When and where will the Beeston Festival take place?
The festival will be held in Beeston Rylands. It will be hosted by Trent Vale Community Sports Association, a charity, which manages the old Plessey Sports Ground on Trent Vale Road (NG9 1ND) on behalf of Beeston FC and the Trent Vale Squash Club. The event will be held on Saturday August 3, 2024. Gates open at 10.30am. Entertainment is from 11am – 10.30pm. We anticipate around 2,000 people will attend the festival.
How do I buy tickets?
For ticket information please visit The Beeston Music Festival Facebook page. The tickets are not yet on sale, but you can sign up and receive a discount. They will be sold via Skiddle.
Who is organizing the festival?
The festival is organized by a professional event management company called, The Great British Fake-Off, in partnership with Trent Vale Community Sports Association. GBFO is run by Tom Muir, who is the parent of a youth player at Beeston FC. He is organizing similar events around the country. Tom has kindly offered to host an event in Beeston and share any profits with TVCSA in order to benefit the sports charity and fund football in Beeston. The proceeds from this event will fund the charity and Beeston FC. This will support 250 children and young people, plus two adult teams and two veterans’ teams in Beeston.
Do you have permission to hold this event?
Yes, a Temporary Event Notice has been approved by Broxtowe Borough council to hold the event. The council has received a detailed event management plan and risk assessment. We are working with the district and county council to stage the event safely and with minimum impact on residents.
What are you doing to minimize the impact on your neighbours in Beeston Rylands?
The family event will be professionally organized and run in accordance with the requirements of all local authorities. We have written to our neighbours and in July we will send them further information about noise management, parking and traffic control, security before, during and after the event, the set up and take down. This information will also be published on the Beeston FC website. We will be holding a drop-in session at our clubhouse on Thursday July 25 from 6pm to 8pm to explain in detail how the event will be run.
How will the preparations and take-down of the festival be managed?
The build of the festival will commence on August 1, 2024. The take-down will conclude on August 5, 2024. Event staff will be deployed to manage the process, including managing traffic between 8am and 8pm. Any large vehicles that arrive outside of their allocated time slot will be held off-site, away from the vicinity, and drip-fed within the specified times.
All contractors will be spoken to in advance, so we are anticipating every staff member and vehicle arrival. No access will be granted without prior approval. Night cover will patrol the site when closed.
What about the noise disturbance for residents?
Noise control measures have been formulated to minimize disturbance for local residents. The sound technicians appointed for this festival are industry-leading sound management contractors who work with GBFO sound technicians at the main stage/sound source to ensure the agreed sound levels are adhered to, both within the site and at agreed points adjacent to residential properties.
In the event of a noise complaint, there will be a dedicated number to contact. GBFO will offer to monitor the sound levels at neighbour’s property in order to minimize the issue. If noise levels are above those specified in the licence conditions, immediate action will be taken to reduce the levels at source.
How will you manage traffic and parking?
There will be a robust travel plan. Guests will be strongly encouraged to attend on foot and by public transport: Tram, train, bus and taxi. Previous experience of GBFO suggests that most people attending will be local. However, GBFO and TVCSA are putting in place plans for car parking. The locations of car parks will be advertised closer to the event. We are in discussion with Nottinghamshire County Council about traffic management around the event.
How will you ensure the event is safe?
Professional stewards will manage the event under the coordination of GBFO. For arrival, stewards will be positioned in the area to assist people as they arrive and keep them moving. During the event stewards will manage each area of the site – stage, food/drink/ entertainment/ clubhouse/toilets etc. At the end, stewards will be redeployed to manage exit routes.
What about litter and rubbish?
A dedicated cleaning team will patrol the roads, the surrounding area during and after festival. A dedicated number will be supplied to residents, which they can call if there is any waste near their property relating to the event. GBFO will send a team to clear it.
